
Background
Adrianne Reynolds was initially from Kilgore, Texas. She relocated to East Moline, Illinois, when she was 16 years old to reside with her adoptive father and stepmother (Tony and Joann Reynolds). She started attending Black Hawk College Outreach Center in November 2004 to obtain her GED, so she could fulfill her dream of going into the Marines. At that time, she met both classmates Sarah Kolb and Cory Gregory.
Murder
On the evening of January 21, 2005, Sarah wanted Adrianne to meet her, Cory, another acquaintance Sean McKitrick for a midday meal at Taco Bell. When they got up there, Sarah and Adrianne reportedly started to fight, Sean told Sarah to end it, but she told him if he disliked it, then he ought to leave, and he promptly left. In the parking lot of Taco Bell, Cory restrained Adrianne while Sarah choked her with a belt.
After the killing, Sarah and Cory took Adrienne’s body to Sarah’s Grandparents’ farm in Aledo, Illinois, where they attempted to ignite it with gasoline. When it was unsuccessful after a few hours, they enlisted Nathan Gaudet (a 16-year-old boy from Moline) to assist with cutting up the body. Nathan utilized his grandfather’s handsaw to detach Adrianne’s head and arms and positioned them in a garbage bag. The three people ate lunch at McDonald’s. Afterwards, they discarded the garbage bag at the Black Hawk State Historic Site (in Rock Island, Illinois).
Adrianne’s parents announced her absence after she was unsuccessful turn up at work at a nearby Checkers restaurant. Authorities were guided to Adrianne’s corpse a several days later on January 26, 2005, by Cory Gregory.
Arrests and Trials
Both Sarah Kolb and Cory Gregory were charged with two charges of first-degree murder and concealment of a homicide on February 1, 2005; they both alleged not guilty.
Sarah Kolb was convicted to 48 years in prison for murder and 5 years for hiding the body (during her second trial on February 6, 2006). She is serving her sentence at the Logan Correctional Center. Cory was convicted to 50 years in prison for murder and 5 years for hiding the body on July 10, 2006. Nathan Gaudet was also charged with hiding the body for aiding to cutting up Adrianne’s body. He alleged guilty and was given a juvenile sentence of 5 years. He was let out from juvenile detention on November 11, 2008, after serving nearly four years. On April 16, 2012, he died in a car crash in Indiana.
